(a) Specific student needs
£10 will buy a pair of shoes and £35 will buy a set of text books. £40 can usefully provide temporary financial assistance to get a child back to school.

(b) The emergency fund
Providing that extra bit of help for those families in most need. e.g. An 50kg sack of rice costs only £25, repair of a leaking thatched roof costs £200-300. For a whole family sleeping on a single straw mat at night £60 can buy a new bed and mattress and will help give the children a good night's sleep.

(c) The school fund
Not all schools are as well equipped as this. With large class sizes and poor government funding, of course schools find it difficult to provide everyone with enough books, stationery and a table and chair. A desk costs as little as £20 and can provide a comfortable place for 3 children to study.
